Tanzanian singer Lulu Diva has defended Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar over his recent remarks that caused jitters both in Kenya and Tanzania.
Lulu who mostly stays in Kenya maintains Jaguar played his role as any other politician would do.
Speaking on Sunday to Bongo Five, Lulu said the remarks drew panic among Tanzanians but Jaguar only did what any other leader would have done for his people.
"We received the remarks differently, we panicked, but personally as per my interpretations, it was just a leader fighting for his people. He saw his people were lacking jobs, (Tumepokea tofauti sana kwa sababu Watanzania tulikua tumepanic sana lakini mimi kibinafsi nilipochukulia hiyo kauli ni kwamba ni kama kiongozi ambaye anatetea jimbo lake..... ata yeye ilitokea ivo kwamba anaona watu wake katika jimbo lake wanakosa ajira.)," said said Lulu
Lulu went further and urged Tanzanians to forgive the Kenyan lawmaker because he realised his mistakes and asked for forgiveness.
"What was wrong is when he mentioned such (nationality) but a wise man accepts his mistakes, and Jaguar asked for forgiveness. As Tanzanians we need to forgive him. (Alichofanya kibaya ni kumention kitu kama hicho, lakini siku zote mwenye hekima na busura ni yule anaye jua kosa lake na kuomba radhi, na hata yeye aliona kosa lake ndio mana aliomba radhi, kama sisi Watanzania wenye busura, mimi binafsi, namsamehe, na Watanzania wenzangu nadhani wamemsamehe.)," she added.
Jaguar's remarks which caused outrage among citizens from both countries terming them xenophobic landed him in police custody for one week.
