Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's daughter Saumu Mbuvi recently opened up about how she got into depression after she was heartbroken by her first boyfriend Benson Gatu.
Saumu who took to her Instagram story to encourage women to walk away from toxic relationships noted that she got into her first relationship at the age of 21 when she was still naive.
According to her, she believed the relationship would end up in a marriage but instead it totally damaged her.
"Let me use myself as an example, my first relationship I was only 21 young and naïve, thinking the relationship would lead to marriage. It totally damaged me and left me on depression pills for a while. The same fear of being judged is what I had until I chose myself and my child’s happiness over everything," Saumu wrote on her Instagram story as quoted by SDE.
She also cautioned women especially mothers against being in abusive relationships, arguing that it will affect their children psychologically.
“Most women should know that if your kids see you physically abused all the time, all they will know is violence, it will damage them psychologically,” part of her post on Instagram read.
The mother of one who is believed to be dating Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip added that she has used the experience gained from her previous relationships when dating.
