In a tweet on Monday, the scholar condemned individuals making the accusations branding them as people who have not read the constitution.

The professor affirmed that it was the DP's constitutional right to hold a different opinion from that of the president.

He dismissed assertions that that such could amount to disobedience of the head of state.

"I pity those accusing DP Ruto of disrespecting the President through the expression of opinion. I say shame on you coz you have never read our constitution! Article 32(1) allows Ruto to hold a contrary opinion to the President's. That isn't disobedience.! It can't get this worse!" Tweeted Kisiang'ani.

The professor's remarks come shortly after COTU boss Francis Atwoli said that DP Ruto was using his proxies to attack the president and on the other hand pretend to speak for him.

"We are going to unmask the DP soon because one cannot disrespect his boss and even fight him through proxies while pretending to speak for him," Atwoli is quoted by The Star.

The deputy president has been heard on several occasions making statements contrary to those of the presidency, a move regarded as an act of disobedience by his critics.

Recently, the deputy president William Ruto claimed that the BBI had been hijacked to fuel ODM's agenda contrary to the president' s opinion who opines that the BBI is meant to unite Kenyans.

Ruto had rubbished BBI meetings being spearheaded by ODM leader Raila Odinga arguing that they were a waste of time and misuse of public resources.

"We accept that Bbi/handshake has been hijacked to craft Odm's 2022 political line up. Unity/inclusivity pretence & associated squander of public resources should stop," tweeted DP Ruto.

The president, however, through his new year message, urged leaders to shelve their differences and focus on building a united Kenya.

"In the new decade, we are called upon to put aside partisan differences, ethnic and cultural blinkers, social and religious divides and live as One Nation and One People, bound by One Vision," reads part of the President's new year message.

The DP also complained during the burial of Mathira legislator Rigathi Gachagua's mother last week when Kieni MP Kanini Kega delivered the president's message of condolences despite the presence of Ruto.

The act was considered by Kanini Kega and his ilk as disrespectful to the head of state.
