The legislator narrated to Flying Squad officers on how he was lured into the business which saw him end selling his prime plot in Nairobi and a fuel guzzler.

The MP is among other seven Kenyans who have recorded statements with police after three Mali nationals and a Kenyan were arrested at a building in Nairobi’s Westlands area where they cheated Kenyans of having powers to perform miracles and make their cash double.

Police identified the three as Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro, his son Abdala Tamba and a Kenyan, Anthony Mangangi Munyiva and were found with over Sh1 billion fake currency.

The scammers are said to have asked the MP to take the money there and be turned into a multi-millionaire only for him to be given fake cash.

In a classic case of swift conmen, the swindlers then asked the legislator to sell his car and piece of land and take more money to ensure they ‘fix something that went wrong in the first deal’.

Though police refused to reveal the name of the MP, a source in the team gave a hint of the MP.

“He is from Central, (region),” he said.

Those who know of a Central region MP who has been in financial woes have, however, been able to connect the dots.
