North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko has rubbished claims that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is being used by the State to undermine Deputy President William Ruto following his latest appointment.
President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Matiang'i as Chairman of powerful National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee, which will supervise and monitor government projects.
But Nyamoko, a key ally of Ruto, now says Matiang'i has first to unite Abagusii community before people talk about his latest elevation in cabinet by the president.
"I don't think that he's being used to undermine the DP. He's just doing Cabinet roles and nothing is wrong with that. It's part of his responsibility. The real task which should worry Jim is uniting Abagusii behind him. We have our internal challenges," he said.
On Thursday, Governor John Nyagarama lauded Matiang'i elevation, adding that he was at pole position to unite the Abagusii community.
"I congratulate him because he's a very hard-working minister. As a community, we are really proud of him. We hope though him, our people will benefit. The most important thing now is uniting our people and as a nation, we shall help him achieve it."
Last year, there was a war of words between Matiang'i and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati over Gusii community spokesperson position, after the latter installated himself at a low key function in Bobasi.
