Speaking on Sunday, the opposition lawmaker urged the DP to resign from his position to escape the apparent onslaught being brewed against him by President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

He added that a resignation would also make the DP stronger and more likely to win in the 2022 presidential elections, especially now that his influence seems to be wearing off.

"He should not stick around and become a crybaby who is always complaining. Let him exit the government, that will make him a very strong man," advised Amisi.

Amisi was speaking on Radio Citizen's Debe La Citizen show on Sunday evening.

The parliamentarian wondered why Ruto is so uncomfortable with the Uhuru-Raila handshake and rubbished claims that the truce might have been against him.

He urged him to emulate Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader and Raila's running mate in the 2017 elections who just like him, was left out of the handshake plans.

"Kalonzo was never included in the handshake issue but he has agreed to join the bandwagon. What's makes it so hard for Ruto to do the same?" he posed.

The DP has been engaging in a back and forth about the handshake issue, having opposed it initially before later supporting it.
