An outlawed vigilante group has been linked to the beheading of a boda boda rider who was believed to be a thief.
The deceased Dennis Mochache's body was found dumped at the roadside at Nyamataro area in Kitutu Chache South constituency, Kisii County on Wednesday morning.
His head was chopped off.
Locals have now claimed that the outlawed vigilante group from Bonchari are responsible for the killing.
"Police are sleeping on their job. They should move with speed and arrest the vigilante group killing our people," said Patrick Nyamwesi on Thursday.
Zachariah Nyamwamu said the vigilante group could not have killed Mochache.
"The deceased could have been taken to police from where he could be taken to court to be arraigned if at all he was a criminal as claimed. We are all protected by the law. Those responsible for the killing of Mochache should face the law," he said.
Bernard Ondigo called on Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to order a crackdown to bring the vigilante group and its operations down.
"Matiang'i is our hope. Let him come out to end the illegal group's operations before our people are killed," said Ondigo.
Mochache, 20 was beheaded for criminal related allegations.
Kisii Central OCPD Francis Nguli who confirmed the incident on Wednesday said they're probing the killing to establish who are the real killers.
