Once again, the coveted Subaru vehicle has come under sharp focus by Kenyans after the death of three family members last week along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

The three; Peter Kimani (husband), Zipporah Kimani (wife) and their son David Gikonyo were traveling to Molo when a reckless Subaru driver overtook dangerously on a black spot and collided head-on with another vehicle which the three family members were traveling in.

Their death has now sparked a debate that was once kindled by Saturday Nation columnist Njoki Chege who jibed men driving “blue Subarus”.

After the funeral of the three family members in Ruiru on Tuesday, ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale asked Kenyans to make him understand why Subaru drivers “feel so special” on the road.

“What makes SUBARU drivers feel so special on the road? Can someone explain to me...," he tweeted.

Kenyans did not hold back from giving their views on why Subaru is coveted. Some hilariously said that they have earned respect on Kenyan roads due to its roaring.

Others said that it is the poor man's "Porsche" because it has a powerful engine and is a beast on the road.
