The MPs who were led by Coast Parliamentary Group Chairman and Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori are said to have resolved to kick off campaigns for the DP who is keen at succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

Part of the campaign will involve ensuring that all development projects in their various constituencies are launched by Ruto, and through this, the deputy president will make more visits to the region to campaign for himself.

Launching many development projects, according to the MPs will also convince Coast residents that the DP supports development in the region, and this in return, will pay in terms of votes for Ruto when 2022 comes.

"Starting today, all projects in our constituencies will be launched by the deputy president," Khatib Mwashetani who is the MP for Lunga Lunga said after the meeting held at a hotel in Mombasa town.

"We want him to visit Coast more than any other prospective presidential candidate. He is a development conscious leader and we are prepared to market his presidential candidature."

Other MPs who attended the meeting include Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Paul Katana (Kaloleni), Getrude Mbeyi (Kilifi Woman Rep), Ali Wario (Bura) and Ali Mbogo (Kisauni).

Others are Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango), Kasim Tandaza (Matuga), Owen Baya (Kilifi North) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni).
