The leaders have called for the expulsion of the former Kakamega gubernatorial hopeful over his association with rival forces, specifically Deputy President William Ruto.

Led by the branch Secretary General Bernard Makokha in a press conference in Kakamega on Monday, the officials called for disciplinary measures against Khalwale.

They said that Khalwale's moves have disgruntled their operations, yet are not for his personal gains and not party benefit.

"Disciplinary action must be taken against him for working with Ruto and bringing disgruntlement among us (Kakamega branch officials) for personal gain,” said Makokha, according to the Standard.

They further told the leader to cease making official party statements since he is unwanted, and now want the Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula-led party to come clear on the issue.

“The party must come clean on whether they have sent Khalwale to work with Ruto at the expense of Ford Kenya's popularity in the region," he added.

But in a rejoinder, Khalwale lashed out at the group, daring it to follow the stipulated party guidelines to unseat him.

The latter has been spreading Ruto's gospel in the region and nationally, and has repeatedly declared his support for the DP's 2022 presidential bid.

Ironically, this is despite the fact that Wetangula has also hinted at vying for the same seat in the same race.
