When the country was reeling from the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal in 2016 amid accusations and counter-accusations between Waiguru and Ruto allies, Duale fired a particularly damaging shot at the then cabinet secretary.
The outspoken Garissa Township Member of Parliament, who does not know how to mince his words, cautioned her against mentioning Ruto's name as she was not in the same league as the deputy president.
"You must have and give the space to the deputy president. He does not play in your league. You are not on our team. You were on our team and we gave you an opportunity and you squandered that opportunity because you got involved in corruption... Leave the deputy president alone. The deputy president is an important pillar in the Jubilee coalition. He doesn't play in your league and we know who you are working for. In the morning, in the evening, it is William Ruto, it is William Ruto," Duale fired.
Duale's strong words came after Waiguru had been relieved of her ministerial duties and was publicly grilled over the loss of millions of shillings at NYS.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) did not find her guilty of any wrongdoing, clearing her to run in the 2017 Kirinyaga gubernatorial race
On Thursday, Waiguru and Kirinyaga MCAs met Deputy President William Ruto and discussed a number of issues, assuring him of their support in 2022.
Duale is yet to weigh in on the development.
It would be interesting to hear what he has to say given the damaging accusations he made against Waiguru in 2016.
