Gor Mahia's goals came courtesy of Nicholas Kipkirui, Boniface Odhiambo and Samwel Onyango, who bagged a brace, to help Gor ascend to position three on the table.

The win took Kogalo to 35 points, two behind league leaders Tusker FC.

Speaking after the match, Gor Mahia tactician Steven Pollack lauded his boys for the win, stating that he now has his concentration on the weekend, where his boys will be facing off with Sofapaka.

"Generally, it is a good win and a boost to the squad ahead of the weekend’s crucial tie against Sofapaka. We can now focus on the weekend match,” said the Briton.

"The boys played very well in the second half and I am happy we scored three goals. The first half was awful after we wasted many clear chances to win the game since the 1-0 lead was very narrow," he added.

Chemelil are bottom placed in the league standings.
