The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has said the union is stronger and will continue fighting for teacher’s rights.
Speaking during the burial ceremony in Kapseret on Tuesday, Sossion said despite the wrangles that the union had faced, it is is there to stay.
“They tried to push me right, left and centre, they tried last year, I defeated them, this year too I defeated them. The union is strong and I am here to stay,” he said.
“I want to give an assurance to all teachers across the country that we will continue with our job as a union of negotiating and fighting for teachers' pay increment. We are not at war with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) but they must do the right things to teachers,” he added.
Sossion reiterated that their focus as teachers is to remain united.
The KNUT boss further revealed that the war he was facing was not against him but labour movements to ensure they don’t have power at all.
Sossion further said that KNUT is now pushing to ensure that the next teachers' 2021-2023 CBA is passed without any problems so that they get new terms.
