Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut now says that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will not separate ahead of 2022 general elections as people are speculating.
Speaking at Kipkorgot in his constituency on Tuesday, Chepkut said there is no enmity between the two.
He, however, pointed out that what is being witnessed in the Jubilee party and different camps that have emerged is merely democracy.
“The two are good friends and we know that come 2022 as the president had promised his deputy he will support his presidential bid. People should not create their impressions that the two are not together yet they have not told us,” said Chepkut.
The first-term lawmaker further claimed that it is the media which is peddling falsehoods that the Uhuru and Ruto are not in good terms which according to him is not true.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta is the head of state and government and commander in chief of armed forces and William Ruto is his principal assistant, they are indeed like conjoined twins you cannot separate the two," Chepkut noted.
Concerning the referendum push, the MP who won the seat in 2017 as an independent candidate hit out at those wanting to change the constitution to create more seats for some individuals saying he will not support such an arrangement.
He said before the constitution is changed, there should be public participation for Kenyans to give their views on what they want to be included or removed from the constitution.
