Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has congratulated World men marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge for being feted with an Order of the Elder of the Golden Heart. (E.G.H.) for his exemplary performance.
Kipchoge received the award from President Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa during the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at 64 stadium in Eldoret, Chemno said Kipchoge put the country in the global map.
“I want to congratulate Eliud Kipchoge the World Marathon record holder for being awarded this prestigious award, indeed he deserves it for being the first man on earth to run under two hours. Kudos for a good job," Chemno said.
He said Kenyans should emulate Kipchoge and work hard in all their endeavors since no human is limited.
Chemno urged President Kenyatta to channel resources towards the completion of Kipchoge stadium so as to provide a training ground for athletes.
“I am calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta in honour of Eliud Kipchoge to complete Kipchoge Stadium in Eldoret since athletes at the moment don’t have a place to carry out their training,” added Chemno.
