Three vehicles were destroyed at the Kenyatta stadium in Machakos on Sunday following a clash between Champions Gor Mahia and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in a SportPesa Premier League match.
Hell broke loose after Gor Mahia was defeated 1-0 in a thrilling match. Gor Mahia’s fans were not happy with the outcome leading to a 26-minute stoppage of the game.
The fans engaged police in running battles as they tried to restore order at the Stadium. One of the destroyed vehicles belonged to the KCB team while the other two are owned by Machakos County.
Gor CEO Lordvick Aduda has condemned the hooliganism witnessed during the match, terming it backward.
“We can’t entertain such uncouth behavior, the perpetrators I believe are known and the police should take action on particularly those who destroyed property,” he told a local daily.
He also said that the club is not ready to condone such bad behaviors and urged the fans to maintain their cool even when the team loses.
The team is expected to play against Sony Sugar in midweek league match on Wednesday, before their clash with Egyptian side Zamalek.
