According to the DPP, claims by some people that he is being selective in rendering justice in the case are baseless.

The DPP says that investigations into the former CEC attempted murder are still going on.

Haji said that he cannot act when he has not received evidence from the police.

“We are waiting on the police to furnish us with evidence then we act on the cases,” the DPP said.

Last week, Mukhtar’s family hit out at DPP Haji accusing him of being selective.

The family claimed that the DPP Haji had allegedly kept silent on the attempted murder.

Mukhtar’s family also accused the police of allegedly plotting to cover up the investigations.

The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, however, refuted the claim noting that police are determined to unravel the truth.

A key suspect, David Mwai died in police cells at Parklands police station last week.

The suspect had confessed to having been paid and sent to kill the former CEC along with his lawyer Charles Kanjama.

Police are holding two prime suspects in connection with the attempted murder.

Garissa governor Ali Korane is among suspects who have been grilled.

The DPP has since asked politicians to stop speculation on the cases and allow detectives to do their job.

DPP Haji, however, says that action will be taken on anyone implicated in the attempted murder.
