The Kisii Council of elders has launched a fresh attack on Deputy President William Ruto over his stand in the ongoing war against corruption.
The elders led by their secretary-general Samuel Bosire claimed that DP Ruto's opposition to the fight against corruption has an ulterior motive.
"Every leader must step up efforts to fight graft but, it is worrying that Mr Ruto is fighting his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga over their efforts to fight corruption. We can't condone leaders like him who have prioritised their progress while Kenyans are suffering in deep villages," said Bosire.
Defiant Bosire backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's efforts to unite the country after the historic handshake with the former Prime Minister
He said the Building Bridges Initiative should not be politicised by DP Ruto and his close allies.
"BBI is aimed at uniting Kenyans but, it is very unfortunate that some forces are out to politicize the initiative. Ruto's allies should know power comes from the people and therefore, they won't force DP Ruto to be the next president. Leaders irrespective of their political parties need to support the BBI," stated Bosire.
Bosire was speaking on Friday at Gusii stadium after attending the Kenya Power expo.
