The partnership between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta could be such formidable to an extent that it is shaking government.
In an interview with Citizen TV last week however, Raila downplayed his alleged influence in Uhuru's appointments.
"I am not in government. I do not know about the cabinet reshuffle you are talking about. I also read in papers," he said.
Two weeks ago, Raila is said to have held closed-door meeting with Uhuru in which they agreed to make changes in government.
And Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa, a former ally to Raila, now claims that the former PM wants him sacked from cabinet.
"Raila is keen to sack me from cabinet. He is fighting me relentlessly and that is a fact," he said on Saturday.
But ODM Communication Director Philip Etale has dismissed the claims, insisting that Raila is an outsider in Jubilee administration.
"It is stupid to imagine that Raila is appointing authority. In fact, he has no business thinking about some people who are inconsequential. Let them make noise, the journey to unite Kenyans is unstoppable," he said in reference to Achesa.
Mr. Achesa, a close ally of DP William Ruto, was one time ODM Youth Leader before shifting allegiance to Jubilee.
