The county government of Nakuru is committed to ensure public involvement in all projects before onset, Governor Lee Kinyanjui has said.
Kinyanjui said the views raised by the public on projects involvement have been incorporated in his governance system.
Speaking in Subukia on Thursday when he launched various projects, the county boss said proper road networks across the county will enhance the smooth flow of goods and services.
He said this is key in the economic development of Nakuru County.
“We are determined to see all roads in our County in good shape through tarmacking, graveling and opening new access roads,” said Kinyanjui.
The governor launched the tarmacking of the road network in Subukia town that will raise the town’s profile.
Other 18 contracts have also been awarded for the opening up and improvement of major roads in the town.
The governor called on locals to embrace and own the projects for accountability, transparency and sustainability.
On matters of health, the governor said they will upgrade the Subukia sub-county Hospital.
“Residents of Subukia have been forced to travel kilometers away to the Nakuru County Referral Hospital or even to Nyahuru District Hospital for treatment but we are now upgrading the Subukia sub-county hospital to address the same. We have sought for the National Lands Commission and other agencies’ intervention to see a section of the hospital’s land grabbed repossessed,” the governor said.
The county boss promised that farmers will also be trained to ensure good production.
“We are also training farmers, through extension officers, on good animal husbandry and breed improvement to increase yields,” he said.
