The pastor identified as Bishop Benard Mutuku of Great Hope Ministries, Nairobi had allegedly failed to pick calls since morning and in the evening his phone went off. This is despite the fact that everything was ready and he had been sent fare for his travel to the function.

Samuel Makau and his bride Redempta Mwende kept looking at the entrance of Kasengela primary school where the function was to take place, hoping to see the pastor arrive but it was in vain.

Onesmus Nzamba, the groom's uncle explained that they tried countless times to reach the pastor in vain.

"We are shocked he never called to explain anything or confirm he is not coming, we called him severally until he switched off his phone in the evening, preparations were over and everything was in place," said Nzamba.

The couple had been given the go-ahead by the office of the Attorney General with registration number MKS/MRGC2019/84.

Ikalaasa chief Esther Mule confirmed the incident stating that it's uncommon for weddings to fail to happen due to mishaps from the church side.

The pastor of AIC Ikalaasa Rev Kaloyo comforted the couple promising to preside over their next wedding after plans are over.
