Former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe has thrown his weight behind the 2018 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga.
In an interview on Wednesday, he also declared his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which was formed by the duo to come up with remedies to Kenya's leadership challenges.
Kagwe termed the handshake promising for the nation, as well as the BBI, whose 14-member taskforce has since completed writing its report after collecting views from Kenyans.
He said that he is expecting major constitutional changes from the BBI report, among them a return to the parliamentary governance system from the current presidential one.
"The handshake is not an event. The handshake is the start of a process. I hope the BBI says we are going to have a Parliamentary system," he said on KTN's Pointblank.
The ex-lawmaker hit out at those opposed to the BBI, terming them as people who are not being sincere with Kenyans, by trying to convince them that everything is fine in the country.
"For you to vote against the BBI, you are basically saying everything in Kenya is good and we all know the case- everything is not good," he added.
