Led by Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae, they urged members of the community to turn out in large numbers for impending census.

Governor John Nyagarama called for unity, arguing that the region has come of age to produce a presidential candidate in much anticipated 2022 polls.

"We have numbers and we have supported others. It's time for us to support one of our own. As a community, we should work with others to count in national leadership," he said.

Ongwae on his part added: "As census comes, ensure everyone is counted. That's the only way we can matter in resources allocation. It's paramount that we take the exercise seriously."

Area Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi hailed Matiang'i's contributions to the community, adding that local leaders should work closely with him to change fortunes.

"He has worked well ever since he joined cabinet. It's our duty to support him now for a better future. This will make things easier for him in the country."

Others who attended the function were West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, Solicitor General Ken Ogeto, Majority Leader Duke Masira among others.
