Appearing before Siaya Law Court Senior Resident Magistrate Gladys Adhiambo on Monday, the group was sent back to remand until December 3 as the prosecution concludes its probe.

The Judge directed that they be held at the juvenile cells in Ugunja police station until the day they will take their plea after the prosecution requested for more time.

The boys aged between 16 and 17 were nabbed between November 23 and 25, barely 2 days after the video went viral, showing them hurling daring insults at top state officials.

They are also bragging of having beat the state’s stern measures to cheat in the exams as they burn their books in what is termed the ‘academic fire’ in the footage.

The incident has since attracted condemnations from across the nation, the main one being from President Uhuru Kenyatta who on Saturday maintained that those found culpable shall be punished.

Speaking at the State House in Nairobi, Uhuru added that the state will not show any mercy to the gutty group.

“Some of the things the young people are engaging in require sheer guts, telling us through insults that they are proud to have cheated in the exam,’’ he is quoted by the Standard.

“If you can brag about cheating we will show you what the State does with cheats,’’ said the President.

The students had just done their final Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) paper.
