Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i insists that Kenya will protect her boarders 'no matter what' eve as relationship with Uganda hit a bottom low.
Last week, ODM leader Raila Odinga pledged to engage President Yoweri Museveni to end ongoing row over Migingo Island in Lake Victoria.
Angered by harassment of Kenya police by their Ugandan counterparts, Matiang'i insisted that it's the duty of the country to protect her citizens.
"We cannot be intimidated. We shall protect over people at Migingo Island no matter what," he said at Kereri Girls on Monday.
He added: "We are not fools. When we keep quiet, don't mistake that for cowardice. Our people and police must be respected."
Since 2011, the Island has sparked controversy with diplomatic channels to solve the row hitting snug on several occasions.
In the past, Ugandan security forces have harassed and even arrested their Kenyan counterparts on the lake.
At the function, Matiang'i hinted a possibility of running for Nyamira gubernatorial race when he introduced his rumoured running mate James Keganda, who was recently appointed to SONY Sugar board.
