The three Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany), Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Alfred Keter of Nandi Hills maintained their calls for an upward review of the Sh2,300 that was last month approved by the Cabinet.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Kutuny said they petitioned the committee to push the Ministry of Agriculture and the Strategic Food Reserve to review the price to Sh3,600 per 90-kilogram bag.

"The offer of Sh2,300 is too little as compared to the high cost of production due to levies charged on pesticides and other agrochemicals used in the maize sector among others," said Kutuny in the Facebook post

"We want to assure maize farmers that we will not rest until the government responds to challenges facing the maze sector ranging from pricing to fertilizer among others," he added.
