Residents of Kamagambo village in Rongo, Migori County were on Wednesday left in rude shock, after a 30-year-old man was caught in the act with his neighbor's goat.
According to residents, one villager identified as Justine Okoth went to the grazing field where the goat was tied to graze, untied it, and took it to a nearby bush where he was caught in the act.
"Okoth separated with his wife 1 year ago over domestic violence, and since then he has been living alone. He untied my goat from the grazing field, and took it to the bush few meters away where I found him in the act," said the goat owner George Oburu.
Area assistant chief Jacob Onyango said residents descended on the naked suspect with kicks and blows.
"I was alerted that the residents wanted to lynch the suspect. I rushed to the scene, and rescued the man. We agreed that the suspect should buy 3 goats as replacements to the one he was found with," he said.
He warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
The chief said crime suspects should be surrendered to police for court processing.
