He is the youngest mayor in the United Kingdom.

His name is Lord Mayor Magid Magid and is the first Somali to hold the plum position.

He had been serving as Sheffield's Deputy Mayor until he was elected in 2018 Mayor by the Sheffield County Council.

Magid was born in Somalia and emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1994 when the country was plunged into civil strife.

He has spent most of his life in the country, studying in the country's academic institutions including the University of Hull where he studied Aquatic Zoology.
