Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has found himself on the receiving end after he castigated the manner in which two lawyers Tom Ojienda and Peter Wanyama were arrested on Friday.
The two were taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters for questioning on Friday evening. They are linked with the loss of 200M at Mumias Sugar Company during Evans Kidero's tenure at the miller.
Senator Murkomen argues that Friday's arrests are a violation of constitution and weakening the fight against graft.
"The arrest of Peter Wanyama and Tom Ojienda and indeed many Kenyans on Fridays for cases which have been under investigation for weeks, months and even years is a violation of our Constitution and weaponisation of the fight against corruption," he tweeted.
Many Kenyans from all walks of life didn't buy his argument. A section of Kenyans argued that Friday remains a normal working day for the office of the DCI and no one should influence its decisions. They further added that politicians should allow the law to follow its course.
Here are a sample of mixed reactions from Kenyans on Twitter.
