Addressing the press Sunday, flanked by Mukhtar's family members, Kanjama said that Governor Korane's blood brother Mohamed Korane had been directly implicated in the shooting and bemoaned the sluggish pace of investigations.

"There is a very accelerated attempt to cover up to cover up this particular dimension of the attempted assassination which could provide the key motive of the action that took place. We are also concerned that after the CID did very good work until Tuesday this week arrested the governor, got key statements from key people, implicated the younger brother of the governor Mohamed Korane directly in the attempted assassination of Idriss, the investigations have become sluggish ever since," Kanjama said.

The lawyer has already written a statement with the police after identifying some of the suspects who met with him while posing as clients.

His remarks came amid revelations that he was also to be shot by the assassins who shot Idriss.

Kanjama and his client were in the process of preparing a case against the academic credentials of Governor Ali Korane.
