Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Health Committee now wants governor Jackson Mandago to sack the CEC in charge Health Evelyn Rotich for closing the revolving fund pharmacy.

Led by the chairman Dr. Hosea Some they said Rotich has gone against their wish of not closing the revolving fund pharmacies.

“It’s sad that the CEC has decided to close the pharmacies which putting the lives over 7000 patient in the County who rely on donor-funded subsidized drugs for chronic illness in danger,” said Dr. Some after visiting the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) revolving fund pharmacy on Friday.

Patients suffering from diabetes, mental health, blood pressure are the most affected.

“We will call her to come and explain to us why she decided to close the pharmacies despite us warning her on the same. We urge governor Mandago to relieve her duties,” he added.

Leader of majority Josphat Lowoi who also accompanied them termed the action regrettable since it can cause deaths of patients.

The committee visited Uasin Gishu county hospital, Huruma sub-county hospital, Pioneer Sub County Hospital, and Turbo sub-county hospital where hundreds of patients were turned away without drugs.

This comes after the CEC health directed the closure of all revolving fund pharmacies in the county with effect from 15th May 2019.
