This is after languishing in the political cold following his failed bid for Taita Taveta governor in the 2017 elections.

Mwazo who served as Tourism minister in the grand coalition government fell out with ODM Party leader Raila Odinga in the run to the 2017 election, before ditching the opposition party for the President Kenyatta's-led Jubilee Party.

However, he lost to Wiper Party's Granton Samboja in the Taita Taveta gubernatorial race.

The former Voi MP is now expected to emerge from the political wilderness following the President's recent move to appoint him the new chairman for the Kenya Ferry Services Board.

The former lawmaker joins a long list of other 2017 poll losers who have been roped in by the President in a move that could give them a political escape route, or relaunch their political careers ahead of the next election where they may be keen to mount political comebacks.

Since 2017, Mwazo has maintained an uncharacteristic low political profile, leaving many guessing on his next move.
