According to social media reports, Kenyans claimed that the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Noordin Haji had opened investigations into the acquisition of the said property which amounts to about ksh1.8 billion.

The governor, while speaking at a function in Kiambu town,  termed the information circulating on social media as malicious saying that he bought the properties being alluded to long before he became governor.

No government agency, EACC or the DCI has sought him to address the ongoing social media rumors.

In his defense, however, the governor attributes the information circulating on social media to his political foes who he says are keen to challenge him for the governorship position in the next general election.

The government, under President Uhuru Kenyatta, is planning on the strategy to use to execute the recently proposed lifestyle audit on top public servants heading all parastatals, following the corruption claims at the National Youth Service that saw about Ksh 9 billion lost between the year 2016 and 2017.

Should the procedure for the audit begin, Waititu says he fears nothing, therefore, he's ready for it.
