ODM director of communications Philip Etale has dismissed claims that some leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been threatened over Mombasa Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally.
This is after Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen claimed he had been forewarned that he will be heckled or be denied a seat when he attends the BBI meeting scheduled for today(Saturday) at Mama Ngina Waterfront Park.
Etale termed the claims as 'nonsense' and asked Kenyans to ignore Murkomen and other allies of the DP dubbed 'Tanga Tanga'.
"Fellow Kenyans, please ignore the nonsense being spread online by desperate Tangatangas. I have seen Senator Murkomen claim that he has been threatened that he won’t get a seat at today’s rally in Mombasa. This is utter rubbish. Kiti tu! (Just a seat!)" he said on Saturday.
In a tweet on Thursday night, Murkomen vowed to attend the function saying he was ready to come face to face with any eventuality.
"I have been threatened that if I attend the Mombasa BBI meeting I shall be humiliated by being denied a seat, not being allowed to talk, or even if I am allowed to talk I shall be heckled. If that’s what it takes to unite this country so be it and I am ready to absorb. Tukutane Mombasa," said the Elgeyo Marakwet lawmaker.
Etale told off the Senator, and accused him of pettiness and being interested in sideshows instead of focusing on the main business which is popularisation of BBI.
"Ndugu this is too petty. If you are serious you want to join other Kenyans at the Mama Ngina Water Front, just do it. You are a leader and no one is interested in sideshows. Huu upuzi is becoming too much," he fired.
