Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has come into the defense of powerful interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, arguing that he is on the right path in execution of his duties.
Dr Matiang'i was elevated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head implementation and coordination of government projects early this year.
The order placed him slightly above his other Cabinet colleagues, a move that also allows him to chair entire cabinet at times in absence of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
At Riokindo High School on Friday, Ms Odhiambo said she's ready to defend the minister to death, adding that those often targeting him should be worried.
She said that being a neighbour, she has an obligation to ensure that the powerful minister is given maximum cooperation across the country.
"The Bible tells us that love your neighbour as you love yourself. If you don't want me to love Matiang'i, who else do you want me to love? " asked Ms Odhiambo.
"We shall protect him and ensure he's doing the right thing. Nobody is going to intimidate him in our presence. I am ready to deal with such characters perpendicularly," she added.
Dr Matiang'i has pitched tent in his Nyanza backyard, a move seen as a preparation to venture into national politics. A number of politicians from his Nyamira backyard wants him to contest for presidency.
