Two people lost their lives on Wednesday morning following a road accident in Migaa area near Salgaa town, along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
Molo traffic boss James Gatara confirmed the incident, adding that the accident involved a canter lorry, and a trailer truck that were traveling in the same direction.
Gatara said the brakes of the canter lorry failed, and the driver lost control and hit the trailer from the behind leading to the accident.
He further noted that the lorry which had three occupants was transporting maize to Nakuru from Eldoret, adding that two people from the canter died on the spot, while the injured was rushed to hospital.
“This morning at around 5am, a canter lorry lost its brakes and hit the rear of a trailer. Unfortunately, the driver of the canter and the owner of the maize died on the spot while the injured turn boy was rushed to the Molo GSU dispensary.
“The deceased have been taken to Molo Hospital mortuary and we urge drivers to be keen on the road, and always make use of the crashing zones built along the highway in case of such eventualities,” said Gatara as quoted by Nation.
The traffic boss added that one of the firefighters who were responding to the accident suffered serious injuries after the fire engine also lost its brakes at the scene of the accident, and rammed into the rear of the canter lorry.
