Muthaiga police boss Alphonse Kimengua has been interdicted.
The new development comes after the OCS allowed State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi and journalist Jackie Maribe to take selfies inside the station.
Maribe has visited Itumbi after he was arrested over his links to an alleged fake letter exposing a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
According to police authorities, Itumbi was given too much freedom in the police cells. Itumbi interacted with friends and even went ahead to take photos.
Itumbi was locked up at the Muthaiga Police Station before Maribe visited him. In the photos, which have been shared on different social media platforms, Itumbi appears alongside Maribe, politician Josiah Murigu and his brother David Itumbi.
Itumbi, who was arraigned on Thursday requested to play a video of a meeting believed to have entailed the assassination of Ruto. However, the court declined the request pending the conclusion of investigations.
Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto argue that arrest of Itumbi is meant to divert the attention from the assassination of claims. Led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the politicians have asked the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to speed up the probe into the matter.
