Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Sunday held a meeting with Mandera leaders in a bid to address terror concerns in the regions.
The CS highlighted the challenges his office was facing as far as the fight of terror is concerned.
He, however, assured the residents that the government was putting in place different measures to ensure the region is safe from recent incidents of terror attacks.
Matiang’i also urged the locals to support the government in the fight to curb the vice.
“But we have elaborate security strategies to counter the challenges head-on,” he said, as quoted by Standard.
He also reminded the residents to share information on terror suspects with the government to help in the war against the militiamen.
He also said that the fight against terror would boost the region’s economic development.
The meeting was attended by different leaders including Mandera Governor Ali Roba, Senator Mahmud Mohammed, lawyer Abdikadir Mohammed, and six MPs.
The leaders assured Matiang’i of their support to end the terror threat. They noted that the residents have been living in fear after reports on looming terror attacks from the Al Shabaab militia.
The CS reminded the locals not to despair as the government wages war on the suspected terrorists.
