Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has disclosed that he will be constructing eight stadiums in the county.
This is in a bid to enhance and nurture talent among youths in the county.
According to the governor, some of the stadium's construction has already begun in some sub-counties.
The stadiums will be constructed in each of the Machakos sub-counties.
"In fact, some are underway. There's one in Kinyui, Kangundo sub-county, another one in Masii that's Mwala sub-county, Ikombe here in Yatta sub-county and another one in Athi River, Mavoko sub-county," said Mutua.
He disclosed that in the coming financial year, more funds will be set aside for the construction of other stadiums in Kalama, Kangundo, Mitaboni in Kathiani sub-county and Ekalakala, Masinga sub-county.
Mutua spoke as he attended the burial of his deputy Francis Malitis's brother Lazarus Maliti in Kalukuni village Yatta sub-county.
He condoled with the family and promised to construct a library at Kalukuni primary school in honour of the late Lazarus Maliti.
"The construction will begin soon; by Monday the foundation should be laid," said the county boss.
Before his demise, Maliti was a deputy headteacher at Kalukuni primary school.
