More leaders have hit out at National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi over his role in the rejection of the sugar probe committee report, the latest one being Lugari lawmaker Ayub Savula.

Mbadi on Thursday collaborated with his majority counterpart Aden Duale in leading the house to reject the Kieni parliamentarian Kanini Kega-led joint Agriculture and Trade committee’s findings on last year’s massive contraband sugar importation.

Speaking on Radio Citizen on Wednesday, Savula faulted the Suba lawmaker for the move, saying that leaders in support of the report will soon initiate an impeachment motion against him.

He ranked the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chair among the members with interest in the importation, terming him unsuitable for the house leadership slot.

‘’Yeye pia inaonekana ni cartel wa sukari na tunapanga kumng’oa kama kiongozi wa wachache bungeni (he seems to be part of the scandal and we are in the process of planning his ouster),’’ said Savula.

He claimed that Mbadi participated in mobilising house members to shoot down the report, terming him the leader of the anti-report team on the opposition side of the legislative house.

‘’Yeye ndiye alimobilise wabunge ili wakatae ripoti ya sukari (he mobilised the parliamentarians to reject the report),’’ added Savula who hails from the Western Kenya sugar belt region.

The defiant Mbadi has, however, defended himself, terming the report shoddy and vowing to again reject it if again tabled in its current nature.

Savula and company are on the other end pushing to have the report presented afresh and be discussed and amendments made.
