I am not interested in joining the Kiambu gubernatorial race in the 2022 general election, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has declared.
The controversial Jubilee Party legislator said his eyes were purely fixed on the presidential seat and exuded confidence in becoming Kenya's fifth Head of State.
He went further to ask Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana to be his running mate.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on Hot 96 FM on Monday morning, Kuria said he won't seek to unseat Governor Ferdinand Waititu since he would no longer be interested in 'village politics' after serving as MP for close to two terms.
"I can never go back to village jobs (Governorship). I am running for the presidency in 2022," he said.
Kuria was first elected to the National Assembly unopposed in August 2014 on The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket following the death of his predecessor Joseph Ngugi Nyumu.
He was re-elected during the August 8, 2017 general election after he defeated six candidates who were seeking to oust him.
The vocal legislator, who is President Uhuru Kenyatta's MP observed the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga has killed the opposition and vowed to fill the gap of keeping the government in check.
"I want to become the official opposition. Kenya currently does not have any opposition party," Kuria noted.
