Murathe's words are the strongest indication yet that Central Kenya may not support Ruto in 2022 man to man.

The DP appears to be alive to this reality hence his reaching out to other regions.

One region that he is banking on is the North Eastern region populated mainly by Kenyan-Somalis.

About three weeks ago, Ruto pitched camp in Garissa County where he launched projects and helped raised about twenty-eight million shillings in a fundraiser.

He also held closed-door meetings with the region's leaders including Garissa Township MP Aden Duale and Garissa County Governor Ali Bunow Korane.

The visit is an indication of how important the DP thinks the region is in his presidential ambitions.

Should Central Kenya fail to provide him support, North Eastern Kenya would help fill that gap.

The House Majority Leader Aden Duale has pledged to give it his all to ensure that Ruto ascends to the presidency.
