The terror group on Tuesday staged a siege on Nairobi's DusitD2 Hotel, in an attack that saw 21 people lose their lives before security forces succeeded in neutralizing the situation.

The former Subukia Member of Parliament said the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) should turn their anger on the group's camps in Somalia and hit them hard in retaliation.

"Tungekuwa tuko vitani katika vita visivyo vya mzaha tungempiga adui na kumuangushia makombora kiasi ya kwamba hatajaribu kutupiga tena. (If we were serious about eliminating the terror group then our forces would be now out there hitting them with bullets and bombs in revenge)," he said.

The former MP was speaking in an interview on Sauti ya Mwananchi' Radio's Cheche Show Saturday evening.

He added that with military combat proving futile in the fight against the group, the nation should adopt other strategies.

He stressed on the need for the government to run a serious anti-radicalization campaign to counter the group.

This is with consideration that it heavily relies on religious difference to recruit people into the group before transforming them into criminals.

"Wanatumia dini kutupiga. Kilichobaki ni pia sisi kutumia njia hiyo hiyo kupiga itikadi inazotumia. (let's also use the same religion to prove the group wrong by educating people that the differences in culture are not a basis for fighting)," he added.
