As drought persists in the country, Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company Limited (ELDOWAS) has notified the public on imminent water rationing.
In a press statement released on Thursday, the company revealed it's operating in a hard time thereby, forcing it to resort to water rationing.
According to ELDOWAS which is leading in water supply in Eldoret Town and parts of Uasin Gishu County, the water levels in two of their major dams have reached a critical level. They revealed that the level of water in two main rivers and Ellegirini dams are now worrying due to the prolonged drought.
"In the event that the drought situation continues, the company will be forced to shut down water production from Sosiani, Kapsoya and Naiberi treatment plants within the next few weeks. These sources account for over 45 per cent of the company's water supply, " read part of the statement.
Further, the company assured residents that Chebara water supply system is still operating at maximum capacity.
This, therefore, will remain the only water supply to Uasin Gishu capital and its environs
"We request our esteemed customers to bear with us during this difficult period. We urge everyone to conserve the available water and partner with us in curbing water loses," added ELDOWAS.
