It has now emerged that former Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was aware his head was on the chopping board hours before he was finally shown the door.
Echesa was fired in an Executive Order from the State House on Friday morning, a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed to sack senior government officials over corruption.
Addressing rumours that he was one of Cabinet Secretaries marked for sacking, Echesa said he was not afraid to lose the job which he never dreamt of getting.
Speaking to the Nation, the vocal politician stated he would remain forever appreciative of President Uhuru for having appointed him to serve in his cabinet.
"I have achieved a dream I never thought of and will forever remain thankful to God. The title will remain because people will refer to me as a former Cabinet secretary," he said.
Without giving names, Echesa blamed a section of politicians he claimed were pushing for his sacking and mocked them that they won't replace him once dismissed.
"They are wishing for me to be sacked as if they will all be appointed to take over. They should know it is God who uplifts an individual to whatever level he wants," the former CS said.
Echesa hails from Kakamega County and prior to his appointment was youth leader in Raila Odinga-led ODM party.
