Omar said that the Raila Odinga-led Orange party, where Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is the deputy Party leader and his Kakamega counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya, dominated the coast in the 2017 polls through trickery.

The 2017 gubernatorial loser, against Hassan Joho, also said that ODM was not bold enough to reward coast legislatures including Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and the vocal Aisha Jumwa.

He advised them to stop complaining about lack of coast representation in the National Assembly leadership.

The former human rights activist stated that it was not bad luck that Jumwa and Mboko were not given House leadership but a deliberate action by Orange Democratic Movement party leadership.

Omar went on to accuse ODM of manipulating coast voters to vote in people who cannot be given National Assembly leadership.

He went on to ask the audience if the two female politicians from coastal Kenya had leadership qualities to be leaders in Parliament.

He suggested that the two were not qualified enough to represent coast residents against serious politicians like Deputy President William Ruto. According to Omar, this was ODM's wish.
