The African Union special envoy for Infrastructure Development Raila Odinga has landed in Mombasa from Windhoek in Namibia for a holiday extension.
The tourism sector that had been adversely affected in the recent past is slowly getting out of the woods with the rising number of tourists recorded visiting the coastal city of Mombasa.
Flanked by his wife Ida, Raila landed at the Moi International Airport on Thursday, January 3, and was received by several Mombasa leaders including Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, Ken Chonga - MP Kilifi South, Mombasa Sub-county Coordinator Idris Abdirahman among others.

On December 28, 2018, Odinga and his wife met officials of the National Port Authority in Namibia led by their acting CEO Elias Mwenyo, for a briefing and tour of the Walvis Bay Container Terminal Project.
The terminal is being constructed on reclaimed land to increase the handling capacity of the Port which forms an integral part of infrastructure development in the SADC region and the entire continent.
The two also met with the President of Namibia Hage Geingob, where they discussed issues pertaining to infrastructure in the SADC region and the African continent in general as well as other matters of common interest.
