The accused was arrested over claims that she killed the 53-year-old by hitting him on the head with a blunt object, accusing him of stealing her Sh1,000.

The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday night after the man returned home drunk where the accused allegedly pounced on him, accusing him of using the money on alcohol.

According to Patrick Kakai, a neighbour, he found the deceased in a critical condition shortly after the accused invited him to see how she had 'punished' the deceased. He said that he also found out that she had also cut him on the leg with a machete.

"His wife called me to see how she had punished Simiyu for using her money to drink. At first, I thought he had only been cut on the leg but when I moved closer, his head was lying on a pool of blood and he was also breathing heavily,” he said.

The incident was confirmed by Mbakalo Sub Chief Christine Wanyala.

According to Bonaventure Wekesa, brother to the deceased, attempts to rush him to the hospital were futile as he died on the spot and only his corpse was taken to the Lugulu Hospital.

“We called an ambulance but as soon as it arrived we realized that my brother had passed on. We only carried his corpse,” he said.
