Activist Boniface Mwangi has linked President John Magufuli to mysterious abduction of Kenyan businessman Raphael Ongangi, who is missing for the last seven days.
Mr Ongangi was abducted in front of his wife Veronica Kundya and since last week, Tanzanian authorities have remained tight lipped over his whereabouts.
But Mr Mwangi said Magufuli's security team is responsible for the abduction, adding that the abduction was political due to Ongangi's connections with Zitto Kabwe, an opposition politician.
"President @MagufuliJP security agents abducted a Kenyan, Raphael Ongagi on Monday. He has been living in Tanzania since 2002 when he went to college and got married in TZ. He is a close ally of opposition politician Zitto Kabwe. We have tracked where he is," he said.
According to Mwangi, the family has since traced where Ongangi is reportedly being held but the police have refused to raid the house, arguing that they ought to get a directive from above.
"The family and friends of Raphael Ongagi know where he is being held by his abductors. Tanzania Police @tanpol have refused to raid the house unless they get a go ahead orders from “above”. @ForeignOfficeKE @DanMKazungu @AbabuNamwamba have ignored the family," he claimed.
On Saturday, Mr Zitto, the MP for Kigoma Urban, said that his efforts to rescue Ongangi had proved futile. He worked as his PA before joining politics.
Mr Zitto, a seasoned politician who has been at loggerheads with Magufuli, asked Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino to table the matter in Kenyan Parliament.
"Kenyan govt is quiet about the matter while we know Raphael is with state security. I tried to meet Kenyan ambassador in Dar he declined to see me. I kindly ask that you take the matter with Kenyan parliament to demand GoK to explain what it is doing about Raphael abduction. Also we ask for your support on social media to raise the issue," he said.
