The party has since embarked on a strong push to aid him capture the seat left by his brother the late Ken Okoth, with campaigns having already kicked off for the purpose.

But speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday, former Makadara MP Benson Mutura warned that things might take an unexpected turn even if he wins.

The Jubilee Party member stated that the same way a number of ODM MPs have been seen defecting to the ruling Jubilee Party, it wont be impossible seeing him decamp too.

"If you think Imran is the best, proceed and elect him but he is ours, he will just join us (Kama mumeona huyo Imran ndiye nzuri mchagueni tu. Lakini mjue huyo ni wetu, atakuja tu)," he said.

The ex-legislator added that with the rate at which ODM is expelling members for defying its leader Raila Odinga, it cannot brag of the unwavering support of any candidate.

However, he called upon Kibra residents to side with Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga, terming him the best bet against ethnicity.

"If we are to fight tribalism we should elect Mariga (Kama tunataka kupigana na Mariga tumchague Mariga)," he added.

Mariga is enjoying the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta who has since endorsed him, after weeks of being considered a project of Deputy President William Ruto.
